Hallo Modellbaufreunde!

In dieser Ausgabe von 'MBK packt aus' wird es fast heimatlich, denn wir schauen uns zwei Bausätze der legendären Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 im Maßstab 1:48 an – ein Flugzeug, das einst ganz in unserer Nähe in Bremen produziert wurde.

Der Hersteller MiniArt liefert uns hier zwei unterschiedliche Herangehensweisen:
🔹 Das Advanced Kit ist ein wahres Detail-Monster! Mit Full-Interieur, einer hochdetaillierten Motornachbildung, Ätzteilen für die Gurte und über 17 Spritzlingen lässt es das Herz jedes Profis höher schlagen. Wartungsklappen können offen oder geschlossen dargestellt werden – ideal für Euer nächstes Diorama.
🔹 Das Basic Kit (JG54 'Grünherz') richtet sich an alle, die ohne viel 'Schnickschnack' ein erstklassiges Modell bauen wollen. Es verzichtet auf die Motornachbildung und Ätzteile, überzeugt aber mit der identischen, hervorragenden Oberflächenqualität und passgenauen Kunststoffteilen.

Beide Bausätze kommen mit erstklassigen Decals von Kartograf und bieten versenkte Nieten sowie feinste Strukturen, die heutzutage 'State of the Art' im Flugzeugmodellbau sind. Wir zeigen Euch im Video die Unterschiede bei den Baustufen, der Teileanzahl und dem Zubehör, damit Ihr entscheiden könnt, welches Set am besten auf Euren Basteltisch passt.

Die Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9, oft auch 'Langnase' oder 'Dora' genannt, war eine Weiterentwicklung der bewährten Fw 190A-Serie. Um die Leistung in großen Höhen zu verbessern, wurde der Sternmotor durch einen flüssigkeitsgekühlten Jumo 213A Reihenmotor ersetzt. Dies führte zu dem charakteristischen verlängerten Rumpf. Die D-9 gilt als eines der leistungsfähigsten deutschen Jagdflugzeuge des Zweiten Weltkriegs und wurde ab Herbst 1944 eingesetzt.

In this video, I’m building the Airfix P-40 Warhawk Mk.II in 1/48 scale from start to finish. I’ll take you through the complete build, from the cockpit and assembly to painting, decals and weathering.

As always, I’ll also show you some of the tools and techniques I use along the way. Nothing too complicated – just the way I like to build my models.

To finish things off, I also made a small airfield base for the Warhawk, using simple and inexpensive materials. A few figures and some small details bring the whole scene together.

It took a little longer than I planned to bring you another full build, so I really hope you enjoy this one.

The sprues come from Hasegawa, and the decals from Cartograf. The PE pieces and maskes come from Eduard.

The good:
- Simple build with very good fits, minimal fixes
- Great decals, the best way to make smoke rings
The bad:
- You need strong decal stuff to avoid silvering
- Still struggling with AK 3rd gen paints

This is a video build of Eduard’s 1/48 Bf109F-4.

The pilot was Oblt. Frank Liesendahl of 10.(Jabo)/JG.2 based at Beaumont-le-Roger, Normandy.

The kit instructions and some online information say his killed attacking a collier off Brixham, but I believe this to be incorrect… more about this in another video.

Eduard 1/48 P-51B Mustang 'Big Mac Jr.' | D-Day Build | Full Build Video
In this video, I build the Eduard 1/48 P-51B Mustang straight out of the box, using only the parts and details included in the kit. Eduard has packed this kit with excellent detail, making it possible to achieve a highly realistic and accurate replica without any aftermarket additions.

The build begins with the cockpit, where I carefully paint and highlight the molded-in details before assembling the rest of the aircraft according to the kit instructions. Once construction is complete, I finish the model using AK Xtreme Metal paints to create a convincing natural metal finish, complemented by the iconic D-Day invasion stripes.

For the markings, I chose 'Big Mac Jr.', one of the distinctive decal options included in the kit. The result is a beautiful representation of this legendary WWII fighter.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable build. The only challenges came from the small size of some of the parts and how delicate a few of the finer details are during assembly. With a little patience, however, the kit goes together exceptionally well and produces a fantastic-looking Mustang.

• The distinctive fuselage of the Bf109 G-6 is faithfully captured in style based on extensive research of the actual aircraft.
• The engine cowlings of the Bf109 G-6 late model are newly molded to recreate a small bulge and air scoop under right nose bulge (known in German as 'Beule') and machine gun ballistic smaller groove panels on upper nose. Engine cowlings can be assembled open or closed and interchanged as you like.
