Focke-Wulf Fw-189 - Great Wall Hobbies L4801 - 1/48 scale - Full build

This kit has been in my collection for just over 10 years, so I thought it was time to do a refurbishment and bring it up to speed. The model is a good kit to build, with nice engraved detail. The canopies are clear, although the main section at the front is a little 'heavy' looking due to the prominent frame lines but it doesn't really detract from the end result. The model lends itself to many varied colour schemes and would be an excellent addition to any collection.

I based the chosen colour scheme on two or three photos available online of aircraft from the same unit. Most of the markings came from my spares box; the maintenance ladder and wheel chocks are included in the kit. I scratch-built a 'crate' from plastic card and removed one of the engines to give the kit more interest when finished. I put it into the markings of 3.(H)/Aufkl.Gr.13 operating over the eastern front during the winter of 1942. I hope you like the finished model, and thanks for looking in... ;-).
