Vought F4U-1D Corsair - Tamiya 61061 - 1/48 - Full build

The Corsair was an excellent WWII fighter plane, and the F4U-1D addressed early issues of the first version. This is a highly accurate model kit made by Tamiya. The kit is made in 1996 and part of a new parts release in 1998. To assemble the kit, I used extra thin cement and plastic cement in the tube from Testors. Painting was done with Tamiya acrylic paints using a hand brush and two airbrushes. The first is a Badger Patriot 105 gravity feed and the other is a Badger Anthem 155 siphon feed for less color mixing and changes. The interior color is a combination of two colors following the instructions. The wheel struts are painted Flat Aluminum. The plane primered with decanted Tamiya Aircraft Primer and Painted with XF-17 Sea Blue. All landing lights are painted with a aluminum background and then translucent colors from Tamiya.
